Suljo Linic (left) has won the Monroe-Brown Foundation Research Excellence Award. The central objective of Linic's research work is the development of predictive theories of surface chemistry related to heterogeneous catalysis, electro-catalysis, and photo-electro-catalysis.

Nick Kotov (right) has won the Ted Kennedy Family Team Excellence Award, with Ellen Arruda (Mechanical Engineering) and Tony Waas (Aerospace Engineering).  The award was given for the advancement of ultrastrong transparent composites manufactured using layer-by-layer assembly processes developed in the Kotov's laboratory. The primary applications of these composites are in aviation and the new generation of light transparent armor.
