The Departments of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering Departments employ a Master Glassblower, Harald Eberhart. Harald is responsible for all the department's glassblowing needs. He maintains, repairs, and alters glass apparatus, and consults with professors and students on their specific research needs. His equipment permits him to custom fabricate most items that cannot be purchased. Harald frequently seals metal samples, cuts ceramics, makes electrodes and furnace tubes. Although Quartz and Pyrex glass are his most common medium,  he can also perform some silver soldering and general repairs.
