It’s time to say good-bye to this year’s class of graduates and hello to our newest group of ChE alumni! Both the College of Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering’s graduation celebrations will be held again online this year.

Rackham Virtual Commencement

Rackham Graduate Exercises is an extremely important event for our graduate students and their families. We could not let this moment go by without recognizing their monumental achievements. Until we can come together in person, please join us in safely celebrating our graduate degree candidates through a virtual ceremony.

Saturday, May 1

University of Michigan Commencement
Beginning at 12:00 noon Eastern Time (US and Canada)

The University invites you to participate in its virtual Commencement on May 1, whether from home with friends and family or with fellow graduates in the stands of Michigan Stadium.

Bryan Stevenson will be the Spring Commencement Speaker. Stevenson is a human rights leader, best-selling author and founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI).

College-wide Virtual Celebration
3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time (US and Canada)
No RSVP required

In a College-wide virtual ceremony, various speakers—including Alec Gallimore, the Robert J. Vlasic Dean of Engineering—will speak to the graduating seniors.

For those on social media, you can share your thoughts and join the conversation using the hashtag #UMichEngin21. messages that include the hashtag will appear on a virtual “jumbotron” that collects your message for our broader Michigan Engineering community to see.

Chemical Engineering Virtual Celebration

The Department will provide separate celebrations in recognition of both our undergraduate and graduate students’ achievements. Each program will include a slideshow featuring all Fall 2020, Winter 2021 and Summer 2021 graduates, as well as congratulations and advice from our faculty and alumni.
