Financial Support

All PhD applicants who are accepted for admission will be fully supported (stipend, tuition, health care) either by the University of Michigan or their external sponsor for at least five years, provided they are making satisfactory progress toward the PhD. All students who intend to earn a PhD will be automatically considered for aid, unless they have individual or external fellowship support. There is no additional financial aid form.

  • As a departmental policy, we do not make any offers of financial assistance to Master’s applicants.
  • PhD applicants need not have a BS or MS degree in chemical engineering to be considered for financial aid.
