Research Interests: ^top

Metabolic engineering, biotechnology, cancer, metabolism, microbial communities. Quantifying in vivo fluxes, engineering metabolic pathways, adaptive evolution, systems biology.

The Antoniewicz lab is developing next generation tools and techniques for analyzing, engineering and manipulating microbial and mammalian cells applied to specific problems in biotechnology (biofuels, pharmaceuticals) and medicine (cancer, obesity, diabetes). In our research we make use of modern techniques for cell culture, 13C metabolic flux analysis, mass spectrometry, molecular biology, bioinformatics and computational biology. Current interests include: elucidating syntrophic interactions in microbial communities, analysis of compartment-specific fluxes in mammalian cells, dynamic flux analysis, cancer metabolism, and engineering microbes for enhanced utilization of renewable substrates and production of value-added chemicals.
