Burns is recognized for his contributions to the profession and technology
Mark Burns was elected an American Institute of Chemical Engineers Fellow earlier this year.
Since the 1980s, he has organized technical and professional development sessions at AIChE Annual Meetings, including chairing the Department Heads Forum three times. In 2016, Burns was selected to receive AIChE’s Food, Pharmaceutical, and Bioengineering Division Award.
He is a Professional Engineer and is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (2002) and of the National Academy of Inventors (2013).
Burns is the Executive Director of MCubed and Research Innovation in the Office of the Vice President of Research at Michigan.
