When you come into the department, you will be advised by our program advisor, Dr. Susan Montgomery. You should make an advising appointment with her every term prior to registration to make sure you are fulfilling all program requirements and are on track for graduation.
Adapted from the Undergraduate Student Advisory Board’s “Who’s Who in ChE”
Who does what in Chemical Engineering, and whom should you talk to if you are having an issue in one of your classes? Remember that if you have an issue in a non‐ChE class you can still talk to staff in the department as well.
If an issue arises in one of your classes, the first person you should talk to is your professor. Chances are you will be able to work out the problem with him or her on your own. Your professor is also a great resource for academic information.
For career planning, educational plans, problems that cannot be solved in the classroom, resume critiquing and many other academic affairs, Dr. Susan Montgomery is more than willing to help you. She also oversees all activity in the Undergraduate program. If you have any questions, compliments, or thoughts on how to improve your educational experience, she is your best go-to person!
Professor Sharon Glotzer is the Department Chair. Like Dr. Montgomery, she handles the most important issues involving the Chemical Engineering department. With very serious class issues or any well-thought educational plans to improve the department, she is the one with whom you should talk.
