Sheila Waterhouse

Sheila joins Michigan Chemical Engineering with expertise in strategic planning and implementation, team development and brand management. After over a decade at the University of Michigan, Sheila has worked with college and university leadership, corporate partners, and university donors to increase engagement, pursue funding opportunities, and meet organizational goals.

She comes to ChE from Michigan Aerospace, where she managed strategic initiatives and marketing/communications. Her work there took the strategic plan from mid-process to implementation and was pivotal in increasing the school’s undergraduate and graduate rankings to #4 and #3 respectively.

She previously led communications and strategic planning at U-M’s Business Engagement Center, highlighting partnerships between industry and academia at U-M. Before starting at the BEC, she served in development and alumni relations roles in the Office of University Development and the Rackham Graduate School, fostering strong relationships and fundraising initiatives for alumni and parents.

Sheila’s background is in team development and marketing in the transportation and consulting industries before joining the University of Michigan in 2011.

Sheila holds an undergraduate degree from U-M and an M.B.A. from Indiana University. When not at work, she can be found out on a trail, playing games with her big family, or creating quilts in her sewing room.
