Scores can be up to five years old.
Nearly all admitted graduate students have a minimum combined GRE verbal and quantitative score of 300, and a minimum of 4.0 GRE analytical writing score. We look at the applicant’s highest GRE score, not the most recent.
Scores can be up to two years old.
A score of 250 on the computer-based version (CBT), 100 on the iBT, or 7.0 on the IELTS is required for international students except those with a degree from a university that teaches in English. Even in these cases, an English language score is preferred so that the admissions committee can know that the applicant is competent in the English language.
We will waive the TOEFL score requirement if you have a degree from a university that teaches in English. Please check with our graduate admissions office at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are not sure. You may be required to undergo an evaluation at our English Language Institute before class registration.
For more information regarding this requirement, see the Rackham Graduate School’s website
University of Michigan reporting code for both tests: 1839
We will accept scores that will expire during the application process.
