We are currently accepting nominations for the 2022 Research, Service, and Teaching Awards. Descriptions and eligibility requirements are outlined below.

Any Chemical Engineering (ChE) department member (including faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students) may nominate a graduate student for these awards until 11:59 PM EDT on 1 Sep 2022. Nominations are reviewed by department faculty. The awards will be presented at the 2022 ChE Graduate Symposium.

Research Award

The Excellence in Research Award is a faculty-nominated award that recognizes Chemical Engineering PhD students for conducting outstanding research.

Eligibility requirements: Nominee must be an enrolled ChE PhD student and must have achieved candidacy by the time of nomination. Terminal Master’s students are not eligible for this award.

Service Award

The Outstanding Service Award is designed to recognize the dedication and service that a Chemical Engineering graduate student has devoted to the Chemical Engineering department and University of Michigan community.

Eligibility requirements: Nominee must be an enrolled ChE Master’s or PhD student.

Teaching Award

The Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes outstanding Chemical Engineering Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs) during the 2021-2022 academic year. Nominations for this award are initiated by students in a class taught by the graduate student nominee.

Eligibility requirements: Nominee must be an enrolled graduate-level ChE student. Nominee must demonstrate an enthusiastic commitment to student learning and success, mastery of course material, and skill and creativity in teaching.
